Discipline Coordinator for Nutrition-Nedra K. Christensen, PhD

Dr. Christensen is a Professor in the Department of Nutrition and Food Sciences. She was previously employed as Nutrition Coordinator for the Utah State Health Department (WIC program), and continues to consult for the nutrition education component of this program with a grant on childhood obesity. She is involved in research with the Cystic Fibrosis Center at PCMC focusing on preventing osteoporosis through the maintenance of nutritional status in children with cystic fibrosis. Dr. Christensen is the USU representative to the Intermountain Pediatric Nutrition Research Center. She has a strong interest in pediatric education and diabetes patient education as demonstrated by her 20 years of service with the Tennessee Camp for Diabetic Children, her participation in the Diabetes Control and Complications Trial (DCCT) and her USU Extension Service classes on diabetes.
