URLEND Faculty - Paula Burckhard
Paula Burckhard has been part of the North Dakota Center for Persons with Disabilities at Minot State University in a variety of roles. She currently co-teaches a disability studies course called “Disability and Society” and helps coordinate a bullying prevention project for middle school students with disabilities. But her main role is that of a parent of children with disabilities. She and her husband Kevin have five children—three with Down syndrome. The youngest two were adopted as young children—one from Ukraine and the other from Serbia. Paula is an active advocate for her children serving on local boards and and as a volunteer. She is also a past URLEND parent trainee.
