URLEND Faculty - Canyon Hardesty, M.S., CHES
Canyon is the coordinator of community education for Wyoming Institute for Disabilities (WIND). Canyon joined the faculty at WIND in September 2013 and currently oversees programs, training and technical assistance related to health, education, early intervention and assistive technology. Her background in health and health care ethics provides a rich and welcome perspective to WIND projects such as the Wyoming Vision Collaborative, Wyoming Family to Family Health Information Center, Wyoming Act Early, Wyoming Assistive Technology Resources, and related programs, as well as health-related program development.
Prior to joining WIND, Canyon worked for seven years at the Wyoming Department of Health focusing on increasing access to core public health services in communities throughout Wyoming. She has experience in grant administration and data-driven, evidence-based, and best-practice community program development. Canyon’s specific interests lie in population health, policy development, and systems change.
Canyon earned a master’s degree in Health Care Ethics from Creighton University, and a master’s degree in Kinesiology and Health from the University of Wyoming and is currently pursuing a doctoral degree in Health Services research from the Colorado School of Public Health.
