Jenna Petersen, Genetics
I am a second-year genetic counseling student at the University of Utah. I am originally from Salt Lake City. After high school, I left Utah to attend the University of Oklahoma where I received a Bachelor’s degree in biology with a minor in chemistry. I then spent a year in Seattle as an AmeriCorps member providing day health services to adults with developmental disabilities, traumatic brain injuries, and Alzheimer’s disease. My interest in genetic counseling developed from a desire to care and advocate for patients and their families and aid in the creation of a more compassionate healthcare system. In my free time, I enjoy reading, travelling, and taking advantage of all the outdoor activities Utah has to offer. I am excited to participate in URLEND and learn from the unique experiences of other trainees.
